DIY Halloween Decorations

Halloween

Written by: Kira Knight

Halloween, the ultimate time for pranks and spooks. However, seeing as I am not one to enjoy the adrenaline of getting scared or scaring others, I have taken it upon myself to decorate my home in cute, little homemade decorations. The best thing about them is that not only are they festive and fun, but they are incredibly easy to make. Plus, all the materials are household products, so they are all readily available.

Materials

  • Coloured construction paper, colours vary depending on the design

  • Markers

  • Pencil, sharpened

  • Tape

  • String

Directions

  1. To start, choose what design you would like to make, I chose pumpkins!

  2. Use your pencil and draw the design and cut it out.

  3. Trace it, so all of your designs are about the same shape and size. However, if you want a more organic look, free hand them all!

  4. Using your markers add more details, making every individual design unique.

  5. Using your pencil, puncture holes on both sides to every pumpkin or whatever design you chose to do.

  6. Feed the end of your string through one hole and back out the other. Be sure to feed the string from FRONT to BACK then BACK to FRONT, not the other way around, so you can’t see the string in the completed decoration.

  7. Now it’s done! All you have to do is find the perfect spot to hang it, then tape, or tie, it up.

BONUS! As you can see, you’re not limited to just pumpkins, or Halloween decorations! This is a versatile DIY that you can use for any holiday.
